Today is the most important day of my life. I hardly slept last night as I was so excited. I open my curtains and allow the bright morning sunshine to fill my room. The park opposite is already full of people preparing for the big event. It is a beautiful day and I feel glad to be alive. It's strange to think that later this afternoon, everyone will be looking up at my window, and that the street will be full of TV news people interviewing my neighbors about me. I wonder what they will say?
I pull on my favorite tee shirt. I made it myself using my computer and printer a few months ago. It says 'I am the truth!' in big black letters, and on the back is a sword. I call it my sword of truth. I found the image on the internet. There is no truth in the world anymore. Everyone is a liar, especially politicians and religious leaders. Well, today is the day when I bring the truth back. I am going to show all those leaders that if they tell lies to the people they will be punished.
I walk to the window and look out again. There are more and more people gathering in the park. I check my watch; it says 8:30. I still have an hour before the VIPs start arriving. As I eat breakfast, I watch the news on the television. It seems every story is about government corruption, or rich bankers, or illegal immigrants. The country I love has changed. These days I feel like an outsider in the city where I grew up. But today I am going to show the world that the government must listen to the people who voted for them.
I see his face on television. He arrived at the airport early this morning, and his motorcade is on its way. The cameras show the long line of black cars driving through the streets towards the park. I cannot believe that my government allowed him to come here. That man is evil. I am so angry that I switch off the television. I can't finish my breakfast now; I am furious.
I check my gun one final time. It feels heavy in my hand - a mixture of metal and fire. Well today, there will be a fire in the forest. I kiss the photograph of my dear mother and father that sits beside my bed and get dressed. My uniform is clean. I pick up my badge and attach it to my jacket. I look at myself in the mirror. The perfect police officer is about to go and protect the people he loves.
