Sumida Fireworks
The firework display at Asakusa on Tokyo's Sumida river is stunning, with thousands of individual fireworks lighting up the city. The crowds are immense but good-humoured, enjoying picnics and beer in the humid summer evening. These photos are courtesy of Ms Fukuda who used to live by the river and enjoyed annual parties on her 10th floor balcony with family and friends.
